Author Guidelines

Education, Innovation and Social Futures (EISF) welcomes high-quality scholarly contributions that align with the journal's aims and scope. Authors should carefully review the following requirements before submitting a manuscript.

Types of Manuscripts

EISF considers a range of scholarly contributions, including:

  • Original Research Articles
  • Review Articles
  • Systematic Reviews
  • Scoping Reviews
  • Theoretical and Conceptual Papers
  • Methodological Papers
  • Policy Analyses
  • Scholarly Perspectives

Submissions should make a clear and substantive contribution to educational research, policy, practice, innovation, or understanding of emerging social futures.

Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts should be written in clear academic English and presented in a logical and coherent manner.

A manuscript should normally include, where applicable:

  • Title
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Literature Review or Theoretical/Conceptual Framework
  • Methodology
  • Results or Findings
  • Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • Declarations
  • References

The structure may vary according to the article type and methodological approach.

Title and Abstract

The title should accurately and concisely represent the content of the manuscript.

The abstract should provide a clear overview of the purpose, approach, principal findings or arguments, and significance of the work. Authors should also provide appropriate keywords that facilitate discovery and indexing.

Referencing

Authors should use a recognised and consistent academic referencing style appropriate to education and the social sciences. APA style is recommended unless otherwise specified by the journal.

References should be accurate, complete, and limited to sources relevant to the manuscript.

Tables and Figures

Tables and figures should be clearly numbered, appropriately titled, and referred to in the text.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material where permission is required.

Research Ethics

Research involving human participants must comply with applicable ethical requirements. Authors should report relevant ethics approval, informed consent, and other participant protections where applicable.

Research involving children, students, teachers, vulnerable populations, or educational communities should receive particular attention to privacy, confidentiality, consent, safeguarding, and potential power relationships.

Originality

Submissions must represent original scholarly work and must not be simultaneously under consideration by another journal.

Authors must appropriately acknowledge and cite material derived from other sources and comply with the journal's Plagiarism & Similarity Policy.

Authorship

All listed authors should satisfy appropriate authorship criteria, approve the submitted manuscript, and accept responsibility for their contributions.

Author contributions and any relevant changes to authorship must comply with the journal's Authorship & Contributor Policy.

Competing Interests and Funding

Authors must disclose relevant competing interests and sources of research funding or support.

Where applicable, the role of the funder or sponsor in the research should also be described.

Data Availability

Authors should provide an appropriate Data Availability Statement where relevant to the research.

Any sharing of research data must respect ethical approval, participant consent, confidentiality, privacy, legal requirements, and other legitimate restrictions.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Any material use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies should comply with the journal's Generative AI & AI-Assisted Technologies Policy.

Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and appropriate attribution of all submitted content.

Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass initial editorial assessment are normally subject to double-anonymous peer review by at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise.

Authors should prepare their manuscripts in a manner that supports anonymous review where requested by the journal.

Submission

Manuscripts should be submitted through the EISF online submission system. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all required metadata, author information, declarations, and manuscript files are complete and accurate at the time of submission.

Pre-Submission Checklist

Before submitting, authors should ensure that:

  • the manuscript falls within the aims and scope of EISF;
  • the submission is original and is not under consideration elsewhere;
  • all authors have approved the manuscript and its submission;
  • references have been checked for accuracy;
  • tables and figures are appropriately presented and cited;
  • ethical approval and informed-consent information is included where applicable;
  • competing interests and funding have been disclosed;
  • a Data Availability Statement is provided where relevant;
  • material use of AI-assisted technologies has been disclosed where required; and
  • the manuscript has been carefully proofread before submission.
