Authorship & Contributor Policy

Food Innovation, Function and Sustainability (FIFS) is committed to ensuring appropriate recognition of contributions to scholarly work and accountability for published research.

Authorship Criteria

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial scholarly contributions to the work and who are able to take responsibility for their contributions.

All listed authors should:

• have made a substantial contribution to the conception, design, conduct, analysis or interpretation of the work;
• have contributed to drafting the manuscript or critically revising it for important intellectual content;
• approve the final version of the manuscript; and
• agree to be accountable for their contributions and the integrity of the published work.

Contributor Roles

Authors are encouraged to describe individual contributions clearly using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy), where applicable. Contributor roles may include conceptualization, methodology, investigation, data curation, formal analysis, writing, supervision, project administration and other relevant contributions.

Corresponding Author

The corresponding author is responsible for communication with the journal and for ensuring that all authors have approved the manuscript, authorship order, required declarations and final version submitted for publication.

Changes in Authorship

Requests to add, remove or reorder authors after submission must be clearly justified and agreed to by all affected authors. Such requests are subject to editorial review and should normally be resolved before publication.

Acknowledgements

Individuals who contributed to the work but do not meet the criteria for authorship should not be listed as authors. Their contributions may be recognised in the Acknowledgements section, with appropriate permission where necessary.

Authorship Disputes

FIFS does not adjudicate authorship disputes between researchers. Where an authorship dispute cannot be resolved by the authors, the journal may request that the relevant institution or other appropriate body address the matter before editorial processing continues.
