Data Availability & Research Data Policy

Food Innovation, Function and Sustainability (FIFS) supports transparency, reproducibility and responsible sharing of research data.

Data Availability Statement

Authors are required to provide a Data Availability Statement describing whether and how the data supporting the findings of their study can be accessed.

The statement should indicate, as applicable, whether data are:

• openly available in a recognised repository;
• available within the article or its supplementary materials;
• available from the corresponding author on reasonable request;
• subject to ethical, legal, commercial or confidentiality restrictions; or
• not applicable to the article.

Research Data Sharing

Where appropriate and permitted, authors are encouraged to deposit research data in recognised and reliable repositories and provide persistent identifiers or links to the deposited data.

Data Integrity

Authors are responsible for the accuracy, integrity and appropriate documentation of the data underlying their research. Editors may request access to relevant data or supporting information where necessary to assess the validity or integrity of a submission.

Ethical and Legal Restrictions

Data sharing must comply with applicable ethical approvals, informed-consent requirements, privacy obligations, intellectual-property rights and other legitimate restrictions. Authors should clearly explain any restrictions on data access in the Data Availability Statement.

Supplementary Materials

Relevant datasets, protocols, additional analyses and other supporting materials may be submitted as supplementary files where appropriate.
